Quidel Corporation - Charitable Giving

Educating Patients and Communities about Better Health

Quidel Corporation is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of people around the world. The company accomplishes this by listening to its internal and external customers and translating their needs into innovative solutions.

The company supports many charities through its employee programs. The core focus, however, of its charitable giving is Health Education. Through this initiative, Quidel has created meaningful, multi-faceted and innovative partnerships with selected non-profit organizations. These partners supply individuals with information intended to help healthier lives and manage the effects of the disease.

One of Quidel’s most active partnerships is with the University of California, San Diego Moores Cancer Center to provide health education to cancer patients, their families and the local community. The Moores UCSD Cancer Center is that region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, and one of 39 such facilities nationwide. It provides patient care and treatment, research, cancer prevention and education programs and community outreach.

In its partnership with Moores, Quidel participates in and supports the center’s public lecture series, including a segment on colorectal cancer and the importance of early screening. The company also provides materials and resources for Moores’ Patient and Family Education Center, and funds an program that offers free cooking classes with bilingual interpreters and materials.

Quidel has also established employee programs that recognize the passion and priorities of its employees through a Matching Gifts Program and Volunteer Incentive Program. These programs provide non-profit organizations with a corporate match or a gift when Quidel employees document the gifts, time and talent that they contribute.
